Did you know that you are 42% more likely to get something done if you write it down?* Well here’s a little story about how I’m leaning on that statistic to increase my chances of finding the time to get back into my daily mediation and yoga practice by taking the 21-Day Post-it® Brand Productivity Challenge!
As you may know by now, I’m knees deep (maybe neck…or even underwater?) in a new business adventure, the Clean & Colorful Kitchen! I’ve been an independent health coach and fitness blogger for just over four years and the number one barrier to healthy eating has always been, “I love your philosophy and recipes, I just don’t have time to cook!” After hearing that about 1,000 times, I was like … “Fine! I’ll cook the food and bring it to your door then!” Ha!
My passion to get more veggies in busy peoples’ bodies outweighed my love of my once easy-breezy, location independent, solo-preneur lifestyle. In January, we started a proof of concept test and in March, we moved into our first commercial kitchen. Today, we’re preparing about 150 meals per week, we have about 6 part-time team members and we are growing steadily each week. Phew, it’s been quite a ride!
I’ve lost sleep and spare time, I’ve shed many tears, suffered a few minor cuts and burns in the kitchen and have come close to literally thinking I was crazy. With all that said, for whatever reason, it’s all worth it. Nothing beats a message from a client after they’ve eating one of our health boosting, veggie loaded meals and they are like … “that was so good!” This company makes so much sense to me, I know we’re building something really cool….
Anyhow, let’s talk about this 21-Day Post-it® Brand Productivity Challenge! I want to share with you what I hope to gain from doing it, how I got started and maybe even inspire you to take a little productivity challenge yourself!
What is the 21-Day Post-it® Brand Productivity Challenge?
Post-it® Products offer a solution for organization, productivity and efficiency in your home, workplace and beyond, and they want you to use them to help you get more done and be productive! According to a study commissioned by the Post-it® Brand, 75% of Americans skip doing something for themselves every week because they didn’t adequately plan or allow enough time for it.** Not only do they offer a wide variety of helpful products, they also created the Post-it® Brand Productivity Tool a quick quiz to help you find out what type of planner you are.
I found it to be spot on – lol. I’m an Ingenious Juggler and my #1 issue has always been DELEGATION and I get too tied up in the details. This makes it hard to see the big picture. In a company that is uber task-heavy, delegation will be essential to maintain service and grow at the same time. This is why I am so excited about this 21-Day Challenge!
My Productivity Goals:
- To get some time back in my day to be more strategic with my actions.
- Rediscover my daily meditation practice.
- Get back in the yoga studio at least 2 days per week.
- Earn the freedom to take a weekend away every once in a while…
How I kicked off my 21-Day Post-it® Brand Productivity Challenge!
This was so cool! I used a combination of some tips from the Post-it® Brand Productivity Tool and a great idea I got from my business coach. I wrote down every task that needs to be done on an on-going and weekly basis. I wrote them all down on different colored Post-it® Super Sticky Notes representing the type of task it was: Marketing/Admin, Kitchen Lead, Sales/Service, or Owner/Manager. Across the top, I also wrote out the different roles I need to develop to take on these tasks. If you’re looking for a good dry erase surface of your own, check out the Post-it® Super Sticky Dry Erase Surface which has a smooth surface that is easy to write on and helps to gather all of your big ideas.
I lined them up under who’s been doing what…and you can clearly see why I’m not sleeping, meditating, and hardly staying sane. You can also see I have lots of opportunity to move tasks over –yahoo! Then I took Post-it® Super Sticky Notes (I like using the fun and bright Miami collection!) and put them under the positions that can make them happen on the weekly or on-going basis.
Once I moved almost everything over I was like…now what will I do? Then the 5th colored Post-it® Super Sticky Note came into play – the magenta! Those are my big picture/strategic actions that I literally have not had time to work on. Goal #1 of this challenge is to find the ability to spend more time there.
How I plan to follow through on the 21-Day Post-it® Brand Productivity Challenge!
Well, now that I have a plan, I just need to make it happen! I can use these notes to create job descriptions, fill the positions then create and execute training plans. Think I can do it in 21 days? Well only time will tell and I’ll be back here to report on my progress in three weeks!
How you can start your own 21-Day Post-it® Brand Productivity Challenge!
Knowing that 61% of working Americans believe they’d be more productive at home if they used the same organization strategies they use at work** – why not take the 21-Day Post-it® Brand Productivity Challenge? I cannot tell you how good it felt to get this all down on paper. What can you delegate, hire out or simply not do in order to find the time for something that really matters to you?
