I’ve just got back from a three and a half day adventure in Utah, Nevada. It was a really healthy trip where we went to the mountains in Zion and hiked for 30 miles. There will be a full blog post next week to share the dets of this adventure, it was AMAZING! However, I did not get a lot of sleep, it took a toll on my body and I drank a lot of wine! And so I decided that I definitely need to do a detox. That, combined with the fact that we’re coming off Thanksgiving weekend, it felt like a good time to talk with you about my detox philosophy and talk about what “detox” means.
There are all kinds of detoxes out there, and I normally do my 3-Day Clean & Colorful Detox quarterly. I created it about 3 years ago and since, several hundred people have done the program and have been successful. In short, this program is a combination of high quality soups, smoothies and juices and leaves you feeling cleaned out, brightened up and amazing.
The Clean & Colorful Solution
My goal in life is to help you live a Clean & Colorful Lifestyle to help you feel better, look better, naturally have more energy, reduce disease and probably lose some weight. And to make that a reality, I’m coming at you every Monday from my Clean & Colorful kitchen (well, most of the time from the kitchen — lol) with some real life tips, tricks, and strategies to help you master the 4 Universal Diet Truths:
- Eat more whole food.
- Eat all 5 colors.
- Drink a juice/smoothie.
- Exercise at least 21+.
Last week it was all about Thanksgiving and I showed you how to make turkey broth and soup from leftover Thanksgiving’ turkey carcass. This week we are on to the third universal diet truth on having a juice or smoothie every single day. Every Monday I’ll touch on one of those topics that will help you feel better and look better. You can register at cleanandcolorful.com and I’ll send you a free jumpstart guide that teaches you how to get started today!
Detox is a subjective term and can be pretty controversial!
If you do a Google search, for example “Do detoxes work?” you’ll come up with a number of articles that say “no, they don’t work,” or “no long-term skills are built,” “it’s only water weight that you lose” etc. etc. And there is certainly some truth in those statements and in some cases detoxes can be dangerous depending on what’s involved and what the nutritional parameters look like. I have two detoxes; one is available but I’m still working on the second one.
My 3-Day Clean & Colorful Detox
This detox is pretty awesome. It is essentially a liquid diet and it is not macro-nutrient void! Macro-nutrients include carbohydrates, proteins and fats. And all these are in my detox. A lot of times you’ll get a detox that is micro-nutrient dense and macro-nutrient void. So you’re not getting any protein and fat and you’re probably only getting a little sugar from something like a maple syrup or some fruit.
The juices in my detox plan are plant based and super micronutrient dense! Then you get tons of protein and some healthy fat from the smoothies. The soups are just roasted and blended up vegetables so you get tons of fiber! You will not go hungry on this detox and yes, you can even still exercise!
Why the Clean & Colorful 3-Day Detox Works
Because we cut out all junk and your body won’t spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to do with the type of food you’re putting into it. Some foods are complicated so your body has a hard time figuring what to do with it. Things like artificial sweeteners, highly processed foods, and things that were created in a lab are not natural and leaves your body with extra work to do to figure out how the heck it’s supposed to process it all.
But when you feed your body with really clean, plant based food, your body knows what to do with it and breaks it down pretty easily. It will either burn the energy, use it to build something and processes what it doesn’t need. So when you make things simple for your body, it can do other things like repair damaged cells, prevent aging, boost your immune system and make you feel amazing.
You’re going to have a bazillion health experts out there with different opinions about what detox really means. But in my opinion, you’re just letting your body take a little rest. Generally speaking, we are really hard on our bodies. We don’t always feed it with the best stuff, sometimes we exercise it too much or not at all, we don’t sleep right, and we don’t manage our stress right. We are really hard on this vessel we live in and it’s the only one we have.
Why I Love My 3-Day Detox
A lot of times when people go through my 3-day detox, even though it is macro-nutrient rich and micro-nutrient dense, they come out feeling amazing regardless of how much weight they end up losing when on the plan simply because they are really giving their bodies some rest. Bonus: you are not starving! Your just providing yourself with high quality nutrition and your body can just soak it up like a sponge, fix the cells and get rid of the bad ones, and you come out feeling really amazing! You’ll find that you sleep better, your skin clears up, you’ll have more energy and in most cases, you’ll probably even lose some weight.
