With the new year, comes new aspirations for better health and more happiness, right? But that surly can’t mean cocktails are on hold until next year, can it? Let me be the bearer of good news today and share the fun fact with you that those who enjoy alcohol in moderation live longer and more satisfying lives than those who abuse or abstain. Note my emphasis on the term moderation, which is actually not subjective at all. Health experts agree that moderation is limited to two drinks a day for the men and one a day for the ladies. This does not include saving them up for a big Friday night party either (sorry).
As you know by now, I’m a fan of cocktails and I’m also a fan of feeling healthy and being happy. There is a pretty fine line with how cocktails fit into the delicate balance. Now, not only have I learned (through professional research and personal experience) that moderation is key, but I’m also an advocate of better for you cocktails in a sense that they have less sugar and a better return on your caloric buck.
