Through regular video and blog updates, Teresa plans to document Sam & Sophie’s journey to Skinny-Catville.

Project Goals:

  1. Create awareness for the potential dangers of having an overweight house cat.
  2. Educate (and entertain) consumers about various methods and products to support cat weight loss and healthy weight maintenance through a change in diet and increased exercise.
  3. Help Sam & Sophie (fat house cats) slim down closer to their healthy weight.
  4. Gain exposure for primary sponsors and various project partners.

Meet the Sam & Sophie Slim Down Team!

About Sam & Sophie

While Sam & Sophie are not related, they have lived together as siblings their entire lives. Samson (white kitty) was gifted from a co-worker and Sophie (grey kitty) is a rescue kitty from the pound. Teresa has been their original and only caretaker since they were just a few months old. Due to Teresa’s busy travel schedule and urban lifestyle, the two have grown up as indoor, free-range fed cats. This summer, they will celebrate their 10th birthdays.

While they’ve always been on the slightly larger side, it wasn’t until recently that Teresa decided to take their weight loss more seriously. Samson had a health scare and was taken to the vet immediately and was told by the doctor “Since he’s an old, overweight cat, this could be any number of things….” Ouch! It was the reality check Teresa needed to take action. This summer, as they enter their senior years of life; she has decided to launch this formal campaign to make it more fun, and to hold the three of them accountable to their goals. You can see Sam and Sophie in action with their small cameo appearance in this episode of “Fat Cats in the Skinny Kitchen.”
