I think one of the coolest things about having a health and fitness blog is the chance to try out so many new products. Sports and performance nutrition is an ever growing, ever evolving and incredibly complex industry. There is research that can support almost any point and on the flip-side, some crazy marketing claims with little relevance to back them up. And not to mention, what works for one, may not work for another — so how do you really decide what works for you? You simply must try it.
This week I got to work with DailyBurn!
I’ve long since known the brand, as its flagship product is a subscription based service that brings high quality exercise videos into your home. I see their commercials on Hulu all the time and they’re actually quite cute. I’m a fan of the concept because I’m a fan of fitness — and excuse free, barrier free, plan B fitness at that! Sometimes you just can’t make it to that expensive Barre or bootcamp class across town and when you’re trainers are quite literally waiting for you in your living room, it’s much harder to find an excuse.

And guess what, they’re really good! I use protein powder all the time, probably daily. I like a combination of plant based and whey based options and also a variety of favors. I have their Vanilla Fuel plant based protein powder. I could go on and on about the high quality ingredients and what-not, but you can also read that on their web site they even have some quick explanatory videos. What I think you might find more valuable, as a protein powder aficionado, and subjectively speaking of course, I can tell you this is a good one. I’ve been using it as a base to all my smoothie recipes these past few weeks. In fact, I just finished up another round of the 3-Day Detox and this product was PERFECT for all the smoothie recipes in there.
What was new to me this week? The PRE and POST fueling!
I am self-admittedly not very good about hydrating. There are a lot of reasons for a good pre and post fuel drink, but for me, I found this product to be helpful simply because it got me to pay attention to drinking fluid before and after a tough workout. It’s loaded with nutrients to improve performance, strength and endurance and also speed up recovery, growth and repair. Awesome right? But again, the best part? It tastes good! I can also tell you that I had some pretty incredible workouts last week. A lot goes into that and I can’t attribute it to the products, but I do like the positive correlation so I’ll be sticking with it!
The best part of a solid Sports Nutrition Plan?
Feeling amazing and doing things you haven’t been able to do in quite some time! From running faster, to stepping outside of my comfort zone to literally standing on my head again. Things are definitely headed in the right direction and I plan to keep right on moving that way. I love summer fitness fun in San Diego!
