DRINK: Sneaky Trick, Raw Juice Cocktail
If you enjoy mixology, garnishing and serving up robustly flavored drinks for your friends, but aren’t really looking to get tipsy here is your solution! Alcohol free raw juice cocktails are not only fun and booze free, they are lower in calories and fully loaded with antioxidants and potent phytochemicals helping to detox your body over retox. Something we could all use a little more of this holiday season. So next time you’re in the mood for a cocktail, but not the booze — try this! This is also a great way to “spice up” your juice routine and supercharge your beverage with vitamins and minerals!
- 1/4 fresh beet
- 1/2 cucumber
- 2 large carrots
- dash of cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
- 12 oz diet ginger ale or club soda
- 2 cucumber wheels for garnish
Directions: add fruits and veggies to the juicer. Add spices to raw juice. This will yield 2, you can also double up or quadruple the recipe and fill up a pitcher. Fill a pint glass with ice, fill half way with raw juice, top off with soda water or ginger ale, garnish with a cucumber and you’re set! Hot tip: Separation is expected and natural, but not aesthetic. Shake well and drink fast.
BE SKINNY: Simple Swap, Trade your Cat naps for Crunches
If you find yourself with downtime at the end of the day and you’re maybe tuning out in front of the tube, or your needing a nap in the early evening, swap out just 5 minutes of that time for some good core exercise. Use your commercial breaks for fitness over zees. You will be amazed at the energy rush just a little activity gives you and it can power you thorough a rough day, and then help you sleep better at night. Thus, you’re more rested in the morning and the positive, healthy, happy cycle continues!
Try this little quick routine, it’s officially the 30-Day Abs Challenge, but fit it in whenever your energy is feeling low:
- 20 Ab Crunches
- 20 Bicycle Crunches
- 20 Scissor Kicks
- 20 Leg Raise
- 20 Hip Lifts
- Hold a Plank for as long as you can
