Start 2015 Strong! 30 Day Plank and 30 Day Paleo Challenges!

Are you ready to make 2015 your strongest year yet? I am! And so much so that we’re doubling down on 30-Day Challenges this month and kicking the year off with both the Plank and 30 Day Paleo Challenge!

I launched this series in May 2013 and since we have lunged, crunched, planked, juiced and run our way to better health and more happiness! I’m thrilled with the success this program has brought to people. My most favorite piece of feedback comes from people when they tell me

I won’t lie, that is my life’s mission! So let’s stick with it! Let’s make 2015 the year we “start” more things to improved the quality of our lives. Of course we want to focus on finishing too — but sometimes that feels too far away and can stop you from taking the first step. You can’t finish if you don’t start, so that’s why taking this first step is so important! Something is always better than nothing on the road to better health and more happiness, I promise! And I stand by my motto of “it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being better.” Sound good? Let’s get to it!

Plank and Paleo Challenge in January?

Yes! Diet and exercise go hand in hand. You don’t have to do both, but they are both available to you if you choose to take them on. The 30 Day Challenge Series is known for the simple, yet effective fitness challenges, and the 30-Day Plank Challenge is one of the most popular to date. But you can’t plank your way out of a bad diet, so the 30-Day Paleo Challenge is here to help!

Why the 30-Day Plank Challenge?

Well, I thought Plank and Paleo sounded really good together – ha ha. But mostly I chose the 30-Day Plank Challenge because we did it in September of 2013 and it is still one of the most popular challenges. It’s different from your average Plank Challenge in that you don’t just hold a static plank for a pre-determined amount of time with the goal of getting to 5+ minutes. It’s way more efficient than that and I’ve broken several different forms of planks into different levels and based on your fitness, you start at one level and move up after successfully holding it with good form for 90 seconds. Why the 30-Day Paleo Challenge?

Of all the diets to choose, why go Paleo? Let me start by saying I don’t follow the Paleo diet, to be honest, I don’t like to eat that much animal protein. But what I do like about the Paleo diet is the extreme focus on eating food in its most natural state and eliminating processed foods all together. I do believe that is the simplest secret of all time when it comes to finding better health and more happiness. I also don’t believe that one diet is right for everybody, but I do believe that there is one right diet for everybody. See the difference there? Just because it’s good for you, does not mean it’s good for me and visa versa – but it could be life changing for either of us! And how will you know the right diet for you if you don’t try? That’s the entire premise of this series of menu plan challenges I have released over the last few months and Paleo has to date, been the most popular.

What is the Paleo Diet?

The Paleo Diet is also known as the Caveman Diet, Hunter-Gather or Primal diet. The idea is that you’re eating what our ancestors did back in the day. If you couldn’t kill it, yank it out of the ground or pick it off of a bush or tree and and eat it, it’s off limits. The diet recommends unlimited consumption of lean meats, eggs, seafood, fruits, vegetables, healthy oils and nuts. This means anything that requires processing is off limits; grains, dairy, alcohol, legumes, beans, added sugar or salt, essentially anything that comes in a box, jar, package or bottle. It is estimated that about 35% of the calories are from carbohydrate, 35% fat and 30% protein and just over half of your total calories will come from animal products.

Also note, it will be perfectly acceptable in my opinion of you join the Paleo Challenge as a Perfect Paleo (and follow the rules mentioned above) or a Part-time Paleo (occasional grains, dairy, beans so long as they are not highly processed), because, as you know, something is better than nothing and getting ride of processed food is the best step you can make towards better health and more happiness.

  5. Mark your personal calendar, because your challenges start Thursday January 1st, 2015!
