The first anniversary of the 30 day push-up challenge! Yay — it’s here again!

30 Day Push-UP Challenge

100 Push-ups a day for 30 days will transform your body.

In May of 2012, I had a trainer who told me that if I did “100 push-ups a day for 30 days, it would completely reshape my body.” Well I looooove a challenge so I thought it would be fun. I had a client at the time who also loved a challenge, so we committed together. Here were the details:

You don’t have to do 100 straight push-ups.

You can totally modify your push-ups and use your knees.

Just get in 100 push-ups a day.

That was the deal.

Then, I was telling another friend about the push-up challenge and she also thought it sounded like a good idea. So I posted it as a status update and tagged like 15 people that I thought might also be interested.

The response was so crazy! All my friends wanted to do push-ups!

So I created an event page for the “Push-Up Challenge” for it and before I knew it over 100 people had been invited, many I didn’t even know. Through the entire month, people used the page to post pictures, tips and motivation. It was a success in my book.

Fitness is a necessary part of life, but leveraging a social network of people with the same goals makes it fun. When it’s fun, you will do it 🙂 When you do it, you get stronger, feel better and are in general a more pleasant person to be around. So let’s do this again!

This year, I have a little bit more social media weight, so I wanted to get more people involved. So the 30 Day Challenge Series was born on April 28, 2013 and the first event was published. We had over a hundred likes and 300 people committed to the push-up challenge in a matter of two days.

With the momentum, it seemed like a good idea to create some useful tools.

  • First, I wanted to motivate people about the benefits of the perfect exercise.  From increased strength to boosted metabolism, you can read those details here.
  • Second, the last thing I would ever want would be to see someone either not get the results they were looking for or worse, experience an injury resulting from improper form. So I created a very quick tutorial, which you can also read hear.
  • Then because tracker is a key to success through accountability and motivation, I created a tracker. You can get access to all of the 30 Day Challenge Series Trackers here.
