I suppose most people know that, which is why most people choose to clock in and out of an office Monday – Friday. And a huge part of me thinks that is the smarter, saner way to go.
But for whatever reason, after 13 years of 9-5, it turned out it wasn’t for me. Even though I liked what my company was doing, I saw my own way of doing it. It would be different, better and for certain that would have to make it easier, right?
Let’s Fast Forward…
Four years later and a dozen projects, focuses and different attempts at helping people live healthier and happier lives by empowering them to make smarter lifestyle decisions, I decided to open the Clean & Colorful Kitchen here in San Diego.
Based on what I know about the wellness industry, the largest barriers to healthy eating have always been “I don’t have the time.” Followed by, “I don’t like to cook,” “I don’t like healthy food,” or “healthy eating is too expensive…”
What we value in the Clean & Colorful Kitchen
My Clean & Colorful Kitchen is designed to tackle all those barriers and really change the way people eat by providing access to delicious, healthy, affordable, heat and eat meals all at the click of a few buttons. It’s a set it and forget it system.
We use no added or artificial sugar, flavor, or color. We use no preservatives. We use no gluten-containing grains or irresponsibly raised produce and protein. We make everything from scratch using only pure, clean, real food. And we make it literally easier than going through the drive through…for the client.
Seven months ago, I thought this was the be the best idea in the whole world. I mean, why aren’t there more people doing this? Why can’t I assemble my favorite recipes, an awesome team, cook the food and deliver it? I mean, how hard can that be? This must be my golden ticket, my calling in life. Ready, set — let’s goooo! And I did, full speed ahead.

Well, it’s actually not easy and this has been one of the hardest years of my life. Exciting, disappointing, thrilling and painful all at the same time. Everything we touch is alive. Our clients, our product and our staff. Everything has its limits and expectations. Nothing is on auto-pilot and everything requires micro levels of attention.

So needless to say, I’m tired. I’m tired a lot and there are times when the last thing I want to do is cook food for myself. The last thing I want to do is think, talk or read ingredient labels. These are the times I appreciate large companies with similar missions and the clean and colorful products they are creating.
