My fresh kitchenAfter consulting in the weight loss industry for 15 years, I’ve worked with people with the most extreme of lifestyles. Even with a formal education in Nutrition, I personally have struggled with finding balance in a world of confusing messages and complicated diets. Nutrition is a fascinating science in that it’s so simple and so complicated at the same time.

Restrictive diets and intricate meals plans are sexy! Watch weight fall off at an unhealthy rate is thrilling! But when the term is up, the diet is done and the comforts of your life creep back up on you, the fun is definitely over. Watching weight come back on and your body puff up with a boomerang effect is demoralizing.

It hurt me to feel it and saddens me to watch it happen to some many people every day. The real problem is that life is hard. And while we all may want to eat better, there is always a “but” that keeps us from getting there. As an agent of change and a passionate health and happiness enthusiast, I’m on a mission to remove the “buts” that keep you from fueling your body the best way possible, for as many people as possible. This is what lead me to create my own simple Healthy Recipe System, as a part of my 21-Day Diet Detox.

#1: I’m busy and don’t have time to cook intricate meals.

You’re definitely not alone here, this is the number one compliant. That is precisely why I crafted so many of these healthy recipes the way I did. There are meals and snacks that can be thrown together in a matter of minutes, and are labeled “easy peasy.” It’s tough to even call them “recipes,” but I wanted people to know that you don’t have to use a ton of ingredients and cook every meal. There are great ingredients that can just be tossed together. And over half the recipes are “Great for Leftovers – GFLO” allowing you to really maximize your time in the kitchen!

#2: I don’t have time to or the patience to shop for a bunch of special ingredients.

Unless your a fancy chef, who really does? I made sure that I used normal ingredients that could be found just about anywhere. And I also made sure that most ingredients are used frequently, to keep you from having to buy a ton of different items every time you shop.  And to really make it in and out of the grocery store in a snap, I consolidated every single ingredient from the recipes onto a one page cheat sheet, and organized it by grocery store department. Making your healthy shopping list has never been easier, and getting in and out with the right goods has never been so swift!

#3: I do not want to give up my favorite foods.

Guess what, nobody does. That’s why short term, restrictive diets don’t work. You need to fuel your body and at the same time satisfy your cravings. This is why nothing is “off limits” in the Color Yourself Skinny Healthy Recipe System or full 21-Day Diet Detox. You can have Mac & Cheese, just know it’s amplified with phytochemical power from cauliflower. You can have Meatloaf, just know it’s beefed up with quinoa instead of bread crumbs. You can have pizza, just know it’s loaded with power house veggies. Sweet treats, coffee and even cocktails are all a part of the healthy recipe system. Just boosted with higher quality, nutritious ingredients and of course, enjoyed in moderation.

#4: Healthy food doesn’t taste good.

Well that is a matter of opinion and experience. If you’ve had one vegetarian, uber low fat, or tiny meal that was bland and left you wanting more, I’m sorry for that. But don’t let that food you. Full flavor and satiation can come in a healthy package! You just have to know how to do it right. I’ve been cutting oil, butter, salt and sugar out of my recipes since I was 12. It takes a little trial and error, but healthy and delicious food can definitely be done! Each one of these recipes is proof of that.

#5: Eating healthy is just too expensive.

So is diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol management. In the long run, you are saving yourself thousands of dollars. And in the short run, you’ll actually find that you will save money by eating at home more often. Preparing your own healthy meals not only gives you full control over your calories, but also your budget. And guess what, there are so many satisfying, nutritionally balanced meals in here that you can literally make for a few dollars. Then you even have leftovers! #6: I’m lacking basic healthy cooking skills and fancy equipment.

No problem! I am not kidding you when I say these recipes are simple and easy to make. I am not a chef by trade, but I’m also pretty pleased at the dishes I’ve been able to pull together. #7: I have to dine a lot, making healthy eating almost impossible.

This is a tricky one, and also very common. How this works is once you are in control of your own food choices, and are cooking the majority of your meals, you will begin to train yourself on what balance, moderation and proper portion control look like. Once you start fueling your body with fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and lean proteins, you will find that your body will learn to crave those things. So when you go out to eat, that gnarly looking burger simply won’t have the same appeal.
