Whey Protein Isolate

Whey Protein Isolate Turned Pina Colada?

This is the week of protein for sure! I opened up Monday with a nutrition myth buster “Do you know how much protein you need?” And today I’ve got an awesome protein product and recipe for you!

We know that protein comes from both animal and plant sources and some are better than others. I have been a long time fan of protein shakes over protein bars if you’re looking to supplement your protein needs beyond food. This is for a few reasons, but mostly because protein powder is often cleaner, includes more vitamins and minerals and can have way less junk in it than most bars. Plus, you can toss a ton of other health boosters into the blender with it and come out with something that quite literally tastes like it came from the drive thru. Or in the case of this recipe, like it came from the bartender at your favorite poolside cabana!

Pina Colada protein shake

The Pina Colada Protein Shake

  • 1 scoop IsoPure Whey Protein Isolate
  • 1/2 cup Pineapple Juice or Pineapple Chunks
  • 1/2 frozen Banana
  • 1T Unsweetened Coconut Flakes
  • 1/2 -1 cup Water*
  • 1/2 – 1 cup of Ice*
  • Dash of Cinnamon (optional)

Directions: Put everything in the blender and blend on low for 5-10 seconds then increase speed to liquefy for another 10-20 seconds. *Use the amount of water and ice you like to create your favorite consistency. I prefer mine a little on the thinner side.

Nutrition: 234 calories, 26g whey protein isolate, 4g fiber, 99% vitamin C and 31% of your daily calcium. This is a GIANT protein shake if you use 1 cup of water and ice. It made two full 16oz mason jars plus a little extra.

About Isopure Protein Powders

There are a LOT of protein powders on the market and some definitely better than others. Isopure provides a dense amount of whey protein isolate and also has zero carbs. A single serving (2 scoops) has 50 grams of 100% pure whey protein isolate. In addition, you’ll also get glutamine, vitamins, minerals, and nutrients and it’s also lactose and gluten free. And based on my experience, it tastes really good!

Pina Colada Protein Shake Ingredients

Isopure Protein Flavors:

For this pina colada recipe, oddly enough, I used the Cookies & Cream flavor and it worked wonderfully! But you could also use Creamy Vanilla, Banana Cream, Toasted Coconut (Low Carb), Mango Peach, or Pineapple Orange Banana. And if you’re just wondering what other flavor they have, check out Dutch Chocolate (Low Carb), Strawberries & Cream, Alpine Punch, Apple Melon and Mint Chocolate Chip. Yum!
